One of the leading British international schools in KSA, Koda designed its Western campus to bring students together through spaces designed for belonging and everyday connection while keeping cultural context.
About the Project
Serving as Reigate Grammar School’s flagship greenfield campus in Saudi Arabia, the Riyadh Western Campus delivers a premium K-12 environment for 1,800 students. Commissioned as lead design consultants, Köda addressed a tight 12,500 sqm plot by going vertical to create 22,000 sqm of functional space. The master plan seamlessly blends historic British educational heritage with regional architectural traditions.

Design Approach
Facing Wadi Hanifah, the campus features textured Salmani facade patterns and hybrid courtyards merging English quadrangle and traditional Arabic layouts. To meet strict municipal traffic rules on a compact footprint, Köda built basement parking, a sheltered ground-floor drop-off zone, and elevated a full-sized football pitch above it, alongside rooftop courts. To comply with regional gender separation rules from Grade 6 onward while optimizing resources, separate classroom wings flank a shared central hub. This central core houses advanced science labs, dining halls, and the library, carefully scheduled to allow dual-student access without cross-interaction.
The project integrates indoor and outdoor learning, encouraging interaction.
