About the Project
Spanning 24,900 sqm near the Dubai Canal, Dubai British School Jumeira is an urban campus designed around flexibility, inclusivity, and community connectivity. Completed by Köda over two years, the learner-centric facility maximizes natural light and intuitive spatial zoning. The school integrates state-of-the-art educational spaces with neighbourhood hubs, creating a vibrant, community-focused environment that enhances student and teacher performance.

Key Highlights
Double-height reception lounge with a mezzanine student lobby.
Sustainable Mangrove Café canteen featuring integrated teaching kitchens.
Community-accessible athletic facilities for post-school hours usage.
Program-clustered learning zones designed for seamless transitions.
Eco-friendly architecture utilizing responsibly sourced, FSC-certified materials.

Design Approach
The design revolves around communal connectivity, transforming central areas into active social hubs. A double-height reception features inviting seating for families, overlooked by a mezzanine student lobby with direct views of the canteen and playgrounds. The canteen, named The Mangrove Café, acts as a eco-themed restaurant equipped with teaching kitchens for hands-on culinary and sustainability lessons. These shared facilities feature a "second life" strategy, opening to the local community after school hours. Built with responsibly sourced, FSC-certified materials and energy-efficient systems, the campus prioritizes environmental stewardship while maintaining seamless movement between active learning clusters.

The project integrates indoor and outdoor learning, encouraging interaction.
